How to geocode individual sites manually
While Sloc Local supports batch geocoding for efficiency, you can also geocode individual sites manually - a great option when you need maximum precision, control, or are working with only a few sites with limited address information.
Why use manual geocoding?
Manual geocoding is ideal when:
You’re working with a small number of sites
You want to manually verify or adjust locations
You do not have detailed address information for that site
You need to fine-tune a location to a very precise spot
Two ways to geocode manually
To view or geocode a site manually, you need to click on the marker icon in the 1st column

Then you'll see a pop up window contains a search bar and an interactive map

Search by location details
You can enter any combination of known location data - for example:
Site name
Address
Postcode
Town or city
Sloc Local will return the closest matching result, which you can select to assign coordinates to that site. Select the matching result and click on Use updated geocode to confirm your selection.

Pin drop on the map
Can’t find the right match via search? Or want to fine-tune the location down to the metre?
Simply click on the map to drop a pin exactly where the site should be located
This gives you full control to place the point precisely - even in hard-to-map locations like new developments, private roads, or large complexes
Select the matching result and click on Use updated geocode to confirm your selection.

Once the geocode is updated, you'll be taken back to the table of sites and you'll see this site has been geocoded. You can carry on this process until all site geocodes have been completed.

💡Pro tip
Use pin drop to refine locations after initial batch geocoding - especially for high-priority sites where precision matters most (e.g. flagship stores or sensitive overlap areas).
