How to cluster or un-cluster sites on the map

When working with a large number of sites in Sloc Local, the map view will automatically cluster nearby or overlapping points to help you see the data more clearly.

This feature makes it easier to interpret dense datasets and understand spatial patterns - especially checking whether multiple sites are located at the same address.

What does clustering do?

When clustering is enabled, sites that are close together are grouped into a single bubble with a number inside. This helps reduce visual clutter and gives a quick sense of local density.

How to un-cluster sites

There are two options to un-cluster and view individual site points:

  • Click on the "Toggle clustering" icon - instantly switch between clusters and individual sites.

  • Click on a cluster, the "Zoom in" icon on the map or zoom using scroll - the clusters will automatically, gradually disaggregate into smaller clusters and individual site markers as the zoom level increases

Performance tip for large datasets

If you’re working with a very large number of sites (>5,000+ sites), we recommend keeping clustering enabled. Un-clustering all sites at once may significantly slow down the app’s performance due to the number of markers rendered on screen.
